// description

Track everyday finances from transaction entry to budgets, goals, reports, and exports in one dashboard.

Expense Tracker is an interactive personal finance application for individuals and small businesses. After creating an account, users can record expenses, income, and transfers; organize entries by account, category, payment method, tags, and notes; attach receipts; and mark transactions as recurring. The dashboard summarizes monthly income, expenses, remaining balance, savings rate, budget use, trends, category spending, upcoming payments, and recent activity. Dedicated areas support accounts, budgets, custom categories, recurring items, savings goals, settings, and detailed reports with CSV, Excel, and PDF export options.

How to Use

  1. Create an account

    Open the registration page, enter a full name, email address, and password, then submit the form. The application opens a five-step onboarding flow that can be completed for personalization or skipped to reach the dashboard immediately.

  2. Record a transaction

    Select Add Transaction from the dashboard, choose Expense, Income, or Transfer, and enter the amount, date, description, category, and account. Optional payment method, notes, tags, recurring settings, and receipt upload fields add more detail before saving.

  3. Review the dashboard

    Use the monthly selector to inspect income, expenses, remaining balance, savings rate, budget usage, spending trends, category distribution, upcoming recurring payments, and recent transactions. Saved activity updates the relevant summaries and charts.

  4. Plan future spending

    Open Budgets to set category limits, Recurring to manage repeating bills or income, and Goals to define savings targets. These sections connect ongoing financial planning with the activity recorded elsewhere in the application.

  5. Analyze and export

    Open Reports and switch among Monthly, Category, Income, Cash Flow, and Comparison views. Choose CSV, Excel, or PDF when a portable copy of the financial data is needed.
